Living Values

When Xploration Centre began, Phil Moore told us that in the new paradigm, our children would not strive to be all “A” students, but rather all “C” students. Most of us can relate to the pressure of performing for a letter grade, which is why we believe in a system where students strive to live and learn each day in alignment with our deeper values. In this way, they will always be successful.

  1. Curiosity

All children are born with an innate curiosity and desire to learn and explore. This is honoured and used as a guide for learning, enabling children to recognize their unique genius and connect with their passions and purpose.

  2. Creativity

Creating art alongside learning to deepen the experience and grow channels between the left and right brain. We empower the next generation to use creative arts for self-expression and creative thinking for innovative solutions.

  3. Compassion

Educators are key to teaching compassion. They have an interest in understanding themselves and others, and are able to serve from the most empowering place. They are kind, intuitive, and empathetic, guiding children to be compassionate for self, others and the planet.

  4. Communication

Practicing how to authentically share and listen cultivates a space for unlimited communication. From this place of love, children are excited to communicate their ideas and thoughts in dynamic and inspiring ways.

  5. Collaboration

Using group mentality, children transcend the individual mind, and reach the universal mind. Children learn to utilize their own gifts, while supporting others to do the same, to reach a greater outcome.

  6. Connection

Rather than seeing subjects as compartmentalized, there is a fluidity and multi-dimensional exploration of living and learning. This allows young minds to relax into learning. Seeing things from the whole system perspective, children feel connected to themselves, each other and the world.

  7. Context

In the old education paradigm, content receives our attention. We are more focused on the ‘what’, than the ‘why’. When we teach context, we experience whole systems. We begin each inquiry with an understanding of ‘why’ and invite learners to develop minds that are greater than the sum of their parts.

  8. Community

Children will understand their place in the world, and the unique gifts they have to offer the community. A deepened sense of connection with strangers and friends alike, is built as a result of sharing common attitudes, interests, and goals.

  9. Culture

Children will embrace our combined human cultures, and live in a world of inclusivity, where differences are honored and respected. Where we are, where we have been and where we are going, are essential pieces in the understanding of our planet.

  10. Character

It is the essence of the new paradigm that integrity, kindness, humility, empathy, and forgiveness become integrated aspects of our life. Our educators embody these values, and demonstrate them through love-based learning. We value relationships as the true wealth of being human.

  11. Cosmos

Cosmos is defined as “the universe seen as a well-ordered whole”. Understanding our place in the universe creates a sense of wonder and awe. It allows us to see how the vastness of the cosmos affects and connects us in undeniable and unimaginable ways.

  12. Celebration

In light of the current complex and dire challenges that face us, we need to remember that the sacredness of childhood is expressed as joy and delight. Our learning communities are places of celebration and fun. We rise out of our past unconscious ways, and celebrate a new vision for the future of our Planet.
